Ultrasound

Ultrasound (ultrasonography) is one of the most useful and painless diagnostic methods in veterinary medicine. It is widely used to investigate problems in internal organs and diagnose conditions without requiring surgery.
What is an ultrasound?
It is an imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the pet’s internal organs. It is painless, safe, and does not involve radiation.
When is it used?
Ultrasound can be used to investigate symptoms such as:
- Vomiting or diarrhea
- Appetite or weight loss
- Abdominal pain
- Changes in urination or defecation
- Presence of a lump or swollen organ during clinical examination
- Pregnancy monitoring
How is the Examination Performed?
- The pet is placed in a supine or lateral position, depending on the area being examined.
- The area is shaved for better contact of the transducer probe with the skin.
- A special gel is applied and the examination is performed by a specialized veterinarian.
- No anesthesia is required unless the pet is very anxious.
Services we provide:
- Diagnosis of portal-systemic anastomoses
- Pregnancy testing
- Echocardiogram
- Ocular echography
- Ultrasound-guided punctures
- Chest ultrasound
- Abdominal ultrasound
- Ultrasound-guided biopsy
Results
The results are often immediately available and are of great help in making decisions about treatment or further investigation of a condition.
