Flexible Endoscopy

Flexible endoscopy is used to examine the respiratory and digestive systems. Images are viewed either directly through an eyepiece or on a monitor via a connected camera or video endoscope. Patients are examined under general anesthesia. Depending on the area being evaluated, the appropriate endoscope is used and the corresponding procedure is performed. Examples include:
- In gastroscopy, the endoscope is inserted through the mouth into the esophagus and stomach.
- In bronchoscopy, the endoscope is passed through the trachea into the bronchi.
- In cystourethroscopy, the endoscope is inserted through the urethra into the urinary bladder.
