24/7 Canine Hospitalization

Hospitalization at PAWsitive Vet Care is an important part of ensuring a dog’s proper care and recovery when staying at home is not safe or sufficient.
When is hospitalization needed?
- The decision is made by one of our veterinarians in cases where the dog:
- Has undergone surgery.
- Requires 24-hour monitoring.
- Is suffering from a serious condition or has sustained a severe injury.
- Needs intravenous therapy or oxygen support.
What does hospitalization include?
During hospitalization, your dog stays in a dedicated canine hospitalization area, where they receive:
- 24-hour veterinary monitoring
- Continuous monitoring of vital signs (e.g., temperature, pulse, respiration)
- Ongoing assessment of symptoms and overall condition
- Frequent re-evaluations
- Medication administered according to the treatment plan
- Systemic or local administration of medications
- Intravenous fluids for hydration and organ support
- Diagnostic testing
- Blood tests, x-rays, ultrasounds or other tests, as needed
- Follow-up testing to monitor treatment progress
- Appropriate nutrition
- Specialized therapeutic diets (e.g., for gastrointestinal disease, pancreatitis, kidney disease)
- Assisted feeding when the dog is not eating independently
- Tube feeding in specific cases
- Environmental and hygiene care
- Clean and comfortable hospitalization area
- Temperature control
- Frequent bedding changes
- Walks two to three times daily for ambulatory dogs
- Postoperative care
- Pain treatment
- Monitoring for postoperative complications
- Wound care and bandage changes
- Communication with the owner
- Daily or more frequent updates from our team
- Discharge instructions for home care
How you can support your dog
- Bring familiar items, such as a favorite blanket or toy, that can help reduce stress during hospitalization.
- Receive daily updates from your veterinarian about your pet’s progress.
- Don’t hesitate to ask questions, even if they seem simple. Collaboration with the veterinary team is essential.
Visiting Policy at PAWsitive Vet Care
Our visiting policy is designed to ensure the safety, well-being, and effective care of all pets. Visiting guidelines are established based on the needs of each case, our other patients, and the smooth operation of the clinic.
- Visiting hours: Visits are by appointment through the clinic’s front desk, Monday through Friday, 1:00–3:00 PM.
- Up to two visitors per animal are allowed to maintain a quiet environment.
- Visits outside these hours are permitted only in emergency cases and with approval from the attending veterinarian.
Visit duration: 10-15 minutes
